Catch of the Week

The area around the north shore burn continued to see actively feeding fish congregating close to the margins and Fontburn regulars Irene and Gerry McKeever enjoyed some excellent springtime sport accounting for eleven rainbows plus one blue to record their whopping 29lb 8oz catch. Irene favoured a ledgered pink Powerbait egg set up while Gerry enjoyed switching between bait and fly using traditional wets such as the Kate McLaren or Diawl Bach to make their superb limit catch.

Memorable moment of the week:

Jonathan Lamb took a 11lb 2oz specimen rainbow to the net but it was another Fontburn double figure specimen which took Fish of the Week accolades as Colin Chapman landed his hefty 12lb rainbow, taken on ledgered chartreuse Powerbait eggs from the north shore.

Best area and flies:

North shore burn and top bay – Kate McLaren, Yellow Dancer, Hawthorn, Black & Peacock Spider.

Best areas & baits / lures

North shore bay and point. Ledgered pink or chartreuse Powerbait eggs, small Mepps spinners.
