Halloween at Derwent Waterside Park was crawling with crazy creatures and brought to life with an array of events and activities, with everything from pumpkin carving to axe throwing on offer.
One activity set hairs on end and thrilled guests large and small, including the Armstrong family from Gateshead.
“The kids absolutely adore animals”, said mum Shelley. “I couldn’t resist the opportunity to bring them along to meet the Crazy Creatures and to have some fun in the fresh air before going back to school on Monday.”
Crazy Creatures are a locally based mobile petting zoo and are a regular feature at Derwent Waterside Park. A firm favourite with families, they bring along a host of scaly and furry friends to meet visitors including, rabbits, guinea pigs, tortoises and corn snakes.
“The Crazy Creatures team were wonderful with the kids, encouraging them to get involved and hold some of the animals”, said Shelley. “The highlight had to be meeting a giant python and helping my eight-year-old son hold him. It’s an unforgettable experience and one I know he’ll be talking to friends about at school for the next few weeks.
“We made a day of it and went for a walk along the dam wall and spent some time in the adventure playpark. Wrapping up Halloween at Derwent Waterside Park was a huge hit. We’ll definitely be back again soon.”
Crazy Creatures is a free experience at Derwent Waterside Park. They visit the site during school holidays and provide a drop in opportunity for visitors to meet the animals.
