Up to two children under 17 can fish free when one parent/guardian buys a standard day permit.
Catch limit is 12 fish per visit.
Day permits are available to buy online at https://bookwhen.com/watersideparksnorth or from Grassholme Reservoir visitor centre during opening hours. Permits can also be bought in advance using your debit or credit card by calling on 01833 641 121.
Season permits will be available to purchase from 20 March at Grassholme Reservoir visitor centre or by calling 01833 641 121 .
The Fantastic Four season permit gives you access to fish at all four wild brown trout reservoirs as often as you like. Our wild brown trout reservoirs are Balderhead, Blackton, Selset and Cow Green.
Please note your EA rod licence must be purchased online at https://www.gov.uk/fishing-licences/buy-a-fishing-licence before fishing at one of our sites. Due to government changes we are no longer able to sell a rod licence at our Waterside Parks.

Before coming to our reservoir site please check your clothing and equipment are free of all plants and animals, such as crayfish, mussels and shrimp. Invasive non-native species can seriously impact our fisheries by eating young fish, consuming food resources, carrying fish diseases and affecting water quality. Harmful invasive species can easily be spread to our sites on damp clothing and angling equipment.

When fishing at Balderhead for wild brown trout there is no best place to fish.
It is always a good idea to keep on the move.
From Barnard Castle follow the B6277 to Romaldkirk and then follow the Balderhead road via Hunderthwaite.
The reservoir is signposted at the entrance to the car park approximately 4.5 miles along this road.
The car park is on the north east side of the reservoir.
