Blackton Reservoir is located in Baldersdale and is one of a chain of three reservoirs on the River Balder. It sits immediately downstream from Balderhead Reservoir. Surrounded by the fantastic scenery of the North Pennine grouse moors, this tranquil space is perfect for de-stressing, boosting your vitamin D intake and exploring the landscape or wild brown trout fishing around the reservoir.

With no two visits the same, a family day out at Blackton inspires whatever the season. Set your imagination free as you explore the vivid flora and fauna that surrounds you in this Teesdale based haven.

Dogs are very welcome at Blackton but must be kept on leads.

Directions to Blackton Reservoir

Located in the Balder Valley, the reservoir can be reached from either Romaldkirk or Cotherstone on the B6277 Barnard Castle to Middleton-in-Teesdale Road,

Head onto Gill lands lane, past Hury Reservoir to the dam wall.
