The safety of all visitors to our sites is our number one priority and, with that at the forefront of our minds, we need to reduce this year’s angling season at Fontburn Waterside Park.
We had planned to extend this year’s fishing season at Fontburn to December 20, but as we all know, Covid-19 has created an environment in which things regularly change beyond what we would like to offer and achieve. Due to the need for members of our Leisure team to provide support to parts of our core business, this extension is no longer possible.
Angling at Fontburn will therefore close for the season at 4.00pm on Sunday 29 November.
We understand this will be disappointing and apologise for that, but it is unavoidable. It would be unsafe for our customers and we are not able to stock the reservoir if we were to keep fishing going at the site without the levels of Ranger availability we normally provide.
Anglers who have pre-booked permits for use after Sunday 29 November can use them on the day they are valid for at Derwent reservoir or alternatively you can have a full refund by emailing your name and booking reference number to
[email protected].
The site will remain open between the hours of 9am and 4pm for walkers only. Toilet facilities will be limited due to the reduced Ranger presence.
Once again, we apologise for having to disappoint those who love to fish at Fontburn, but we look forward to welcoming you back in 2021.
For those who live close by, trout angling remains open at Derwent Waterside Park and at Whittle Dene for coarse angling.
